MISSION STATEMENT. . . To effectively advocate the legislative programs of the Administration, the Department and our client offices to meet collective goals.
The Office of Legislation within the Department of General Services (DGS) serves as the single focal point for all Department legislative matters. We coordinate all legislative activities for DGS, from the development of bill analyses to representing the Department at legislative hearings.
We are responsible for the review of all legislative bills, the development of DGS' policy on bills affecting the department and critical communication between the Legislature, the Governor's Office, and other state agencies.
In addition, we are involved in the coordination of specific legislative reports due to the Legislature from the DGS, responding to requests for information regarding the Capitol facilities and grounds, as well as handling questions from the Legislature on departmental activities.
The Office of Legislation is in a good position within the Department to initiate positive change in the way we do business and to assist our customers in initiating changes needed to increase their effectiveness and competitiveness. We value all of our customers and believe that communication is crucial to effectively service our stakeholders.
